Police Report No. A/20120523/2006
Name of Informant : Jane Lim
Date/Time of Incident : 19-5-2012 14:30-16:30
I am a volunteer from a non-organisation, independent volunteering group namely-Happy Angel Seniors programme.
On 19-5-2012 at about 1430hrs, my volunteering group had a void deck elderly event at Blk2 Hougang Ave 3 whereby the volunteers were distributing groceries to the elderly residences of the surrounding blocks within Hougang Ave 3 vicinity. We were unaware that the Prime Minister, Mr.Lee Hsian loong, together with People’s Action Party member, Mr.Desmond Choo, will be passing by the block which the event was held at.
At about 1600hrs, while we were still distributing the groceries, mr.Lee and
Mr Choo passed by our event site and drop by to pay visit to the elderly. After which, he left.
On 20-5-2012, our volunteers started to call and informed me that Lianhe Zaobao had wrote an article on the headlines about Mr. Lee and Mr Choo’s visit to the event. However, when they read about the caption written under the photograph of Mr. lee and Mr.Choo’s, it stated in one of the sentence that my volunteering group is from a Volunteers Welfare Organisation (VWO) and we co-cooperate with the Workers’ Party. However, we are not. As such, I called Singapore Press Holding (SPH) to clarify about this and later the reporter namely Chua Eng Wee ,who reported about this, called me and I was told by him that someone had given this information and he was instructed to write this by that person. I asked him about why he did not clarify first before publishing and he told me that it was too late to verify as the information came in too late and he was sorry about this. I tried to ask him more about who gave this information and he refused to tell me about it initially until I prompted him further and he told me that someone within the Grassroot had instructed him to write about this so that they can show to the public that both the People’s Action Party and Workers Party are able to work with each other in harmony and state my event as a Workers Party join organized event. I then tried to clarify this with him and he was willing to give a disclaimer regarding this issue. He later asked me about how the disclaimer was going to be publishing on the newspaper. It stated that SPH is sorry about the wrongly published issue regarding my volunteering group is from VWO and Co-operate with the Workers’ Party. After reading the SMS he sent to me about the disclaimer hew was going to publish on the following day. I agreed and allowed him to publish on what he had told me about.
On the 21-5-2012, I read the disclaimer column of Lianhe Zaobao. However, it did not state that they wrongly published about the photograph caption and they were sorry about it which earlier I had agreed with reporter Chua Eng Wee. I contacted Chua Eng Wee about this and I was told that his chief editor had removed this. I asked him about who is his chief editor? However, her refused to tell me and I had no choice but to hang up the call. Later that night, I posted this issue on Mr. Lee’s facebook wall and Zaobao Forum and sent an email to both REACH and Lianhe Zaobao.
On 22-5-2012 at about 0800 hrs. I sent an SMS to the reporter Chua Eng Wee and informing him about I had sent an email to REACH and Lianhe Zaobao and the posting on Zaobao forum was being deleted. I wish to have SPH to apologise about this or else we have to take our legal action regarding this issue. However, Chua Eng Wee did not reply till now.
I wish to state that my volunteering goup-Happy Angel Seniors Programme, does not side with any political parties as we are an independent volunteering group and it is unfair that Lianhe Zaobao was able to be influence by other sources which was not being verified by the actual situation. I strongly request Lianhe Zaobao to give an apology to this issue and to be publish on the newspaper front page. If not, we will be taking civil action against Lianhe Zaobao and seek sponsorship from PM Lee for the fees.
That is all.
More photos and videos are shown at below title: 19-5-2012-Hougang Blk1/2…….(7)第7次
I wonder what have this gonna to do with our PM and why asking him to sponsor the fee? If everyone wants a redress and seek sponsorship from PM, will it be fair for him?

I wonder why not? The grassroot organization is a PAP censured tool to propagate PAP’s influence on residents, so PM Lee has the responsibility as PAP’s Secretary-General for the actions taken by its members. This is totally fair!
So are you trying to tell us that all these greassroot can do whatever they want, spill whatever lies they like to, make accussations anyway they want to and still get away free?

A small prawn like the journalist, wouldn’t have dared nor have the audacity to write such a misleading report. He definitely have a 靠山, supporting him, namely an editor or someone from PAP’s echelon. As the leader of the People Action’s Party, PM Lee has the ACCOUNTABILITY and RESPONSIBILITY to look into this issue. MASSIVE distortion of truth on a national printed media to distort Singaporeans is a serious criminal offense and a breach of law. If WP can sack Yaw for serious breach of misconduct, why should PAP be exempted from such accountability and scrutiny?
If PAP is as white as what they professed to be, then PM Lee should take the initiative and investigate this incident (less not forget that this distortion was perpetuated by someone from the Grassroots…… unless you are telling me that PAP is above the law and Singaporeans have to accept whatever scraps they offer to us?
WP has proven before that they CAN walk the talk…. now’s PAP’s turn. People’s Action Party…… please remember…. A.C.T.I.O.N.S. speaks louder than words.

You should consider adding a scanned copy of the police report to your blog post above. I thought it would add some credibility to your claims.
Please keep up the great work at the organization! 🙂

happyangelclub, thanks for all the good deeds and efforts made for the less unfortunate residents in our midst, something we cannot count on our PAP government anymore.
I urged you to go to the very end in revealing this highly despicable act by PAP grassroot people, and ensure that they will not stood so low in future in hitting at our opposition parties.

You have got character, my friend.
I applaud you and your fellow group members for refusing to be used by others for their own selfish political purposes.
This incident serve to illustrate how with unfettered power the govt and its political camp followers can stooped to any lengths for its political purposes. This very act demonstrates how the govt has this habit of POLITICISING and labelling everything in Singapore, allow Singaporeans no room to act according to their own conscience and humanity.
It is also the PAP way of controlling the people and the country.
